Austin North offers a variety of green housing whether in townhouses or homes. Although Central and East Austin have the bulk of greenbuilt projects, there are some individual homes and large projects that are greenbuilt in the North Austin area. Lakeline Square Town Homes in northwest Austin is one greenbuilt project. Arboretum Park off of Anderson Mill is another. Farther north and west of Austin in rural Leander, Travis County is the Apple Springs subdivision. There are several homes with rainwater collection. Similar to Dripping Springs where good water is hard to find, owners have set up extensive rainwater collection systems. One home I sold had about an 18,000 gallon system. Another greenbuilt home I sold had almost 35,000 gallon rainwater collection system. Since you are out in the county, you can do this without the red tape you would experience otherwise in the city.
